Was there a good reason to remember Mustafi?

Didn't we go 20+ games without losing with Mustafi in the team when he first joined?

Burnley hardly had any threat.
It was snuffed out by White , Gabriel and Tomi.
We were defensively superb.

If Burnley hardly had any threat neither did we. They had more shots than us, we had the same amount on target (3), neither team had any clear cut chances, according to Sky's statsm

We had 4 decent chances to Burnley's 0

We also ripped them open several times but just missed the final ball (easy final balls). Just some poor execution at the end, but good build up play.

Careful Jay, in the matchday thread you praised Ramsdale for making good saves ...... bit of a contradiction then if you say Burnley created zero chances ....

Not really.
His great save was from a half chance that the forward struck well.
Odegaard scored from a small chance... If the keeper had tipped it round the post, it would have been a great save.

Most of Ramsdale's excellent performance yesterday was from his handing of crosses. Commanding and dominant.
The defence in front of him was superb.

Do you know why White gets a hard time by AFC fans right now?

£50m for White.

£27m for Gabriel

............... that's why.

Gab is twice the defender White is, I still think White can come good, made a few mistakes under pressure from Burnley but its only Whites what 2nd or 3rd full game for us?

Hopefully he starts living up to the billing but the pressure is coming from the price tag, luckily Gabby was a fkin steal, he could be heading for the VVD or Maguire category soon, we need to nail him down contract wise.

Narrative goes a long way.

Yesterday our most effective defender at stopping attacks by Burnely was White, followed by Gabriel.
White won more of his headers and cut out a lot more balls to forwards than Gabriel. Garbriel was excellent at clearing the ball out on the ground. 8 clearances to White's 7.
However White did make a mistake that almost cost a penalty, so that is where most of the attention goes (human nature).
Gabriel had a great game, but he actually lost most of his aerial battles.

Both were very good yesterday.

Then there is Tomi.. he actually helped White a lot. Tomi is an absolute beast in the air and has very good recovery pace. He closes down space and gives the wide player no time to breath.

The 3 of them operated well as a unit.
Tierney however was quite poor again and honestly, he can't be far from being dropped for Tavares.

White's under hit pass almost caused a penalty and a second dwadling on the ball caused a second chance. Mistakes cost games and that's all that matters. One too many.
Think Holding will be back against the Spuds.

Aside from the underhit backpass I thought his performance against Burnley was good.

Everyone’s telling you he was shaky, why do you think that is?

Everyone ?
LOL.

No , just some entrenched people who were so OTT before he kicked a ball that they are squirming now and having to lie to themselves to save face.

Two gamess in a row - clean sheet.
Best defensive numbers in our team today.
Won most of his defensive headers against Burnely's aerial attack too.
Top player - worth every penny.
:arsenal3:
Made a passback error, sure, but no harm no foul - that other guy you said was shit - Ramsdale - sorted it.

No pal.

We played two relegation who struggle to score, so you get that or are you too entrenched in your stats to realise that?

It’s clear to anyone he wasn’t our best defender today, but by all means keep using your nonsense stats people keep proving show a false picture!

Definitely not worth anywhere near 50 million based on the performances so far, probably worth half that realistically, we overpaid massively. Still at least we have Saliba to look forward to when Arteta gets the boot so not a big issue.

Ramsdale did alright I’ll give you that, he wouldn’t have been my first choice keeper no doubt, but he did ok, hope it continues, much bigger tests ahead however.

Ramsdale 'did alright' lol. He was excellent and like White has embarrassed you over the last 2 games, both clean sheets.

Ramsdale, White, Tomiyasu, Odegaard, Lokonga, Tavares - all great signings.
6 excellent players for 150m. Top business. Arteta and Edu - top marks.

No pal White was not very good, you’re embarrassing yourself again

White came 12th in the BBC ratings in our team, you’re right what a great performer!

Can't have been that bad, kept a clean sheets and I don't really remember Burnley having anything clear cut, the most they could muster was a few headers but even they were half chances at best.

They’ve scored 3 goals all season and have 1 point, they’re toothless. He wasn’t great, average at best, not what you expect from a 50 million defender that’s for sure.

We’ve played 2 and beaten 2 teams and they have 1 point between them this season and all we managed is 2 goals, one wasn’t even from open play.

We have t had to do much defending in those games.

I am glad Saliba is doing well on loan
He is an Arsenal player
But no such caveat about goals that the other team have scored have been brought into the equation when you have assessed his performance
Monaco had only scored 3 goals in 5 games
Rennes have only scored 3 in 6 games
White was better at Burnley than Saliba was in both games against the aforementioned

I’m not sure how you come to that conclusion, Saliba has excelled in every single game he’s played so far, White has had 2 games out of 3 where he wasn’t great, including Burnley where he was shakey at times, plenty of people mentioned it so don’t take my word for it.

No Saliba has been a 6/10 in most games and, a couple, he's done slightly better.
He was crap in the EL. Marseilles worst defender...which is why I guess the Saliba thread was quiet then.

He is not at White's or Gabriel's level and that is why he was sent to the minor leagues - to get better.
I am hoping he does and either provide another option or we can sell him for good money.

I had to laugh at his stats for the last game that were posted as if they were great.
They were not. They were actually really average stats for a CB.
