Chelsea and City straight away :hiding:

All the games from March until the end of the season are winnable, so it’s essential we get off to a good start this time around

The usual tough start so the media jump on our backs and fans start crying about our season being over, great.

Hopefully we can spank Brentford opening day and get a win over Chelsea so the pressure is off for the inevitable City defeat. After that it's not too bad til end of November.

The media haven't been on our case since Arteta joined. Even during Emery's final weeks here, the backlash and media scrutiny was nowhere as close to what it was during the Wenger years.

If the media do scrutinize Arsenal, after a poor start, it would be long overdue. I don't know of a manager at a top club who is as mollycoddled by the media and most pundits as Arteta has been.

There's no pressure on him either. As long as he's in Europa League places for much of the season, I don't expect pundits and journalists to criticize him.

Disagree with your first line tbh, any chance they get they still dig us out. Somehow Arteta does get a lot of backing from the pundits but the club as a whole still get ripped to shreds at every opportunity.

Those lot are people who've hated us ever since Wenger arrived and obliterated ManU's monopoly. Even if we win the League next season, they will continue to criticize us—claiming it to be a fluke, asking questions if we could retain the title, blah, blah.

Those same folks hailed ManU and Liverpool's top-4 seasons but when it was us in the top-4, they mocked us to no end.

On a whole, the media and pundits have been a lot more lenient on Arteta. Compared to how we were bashed during those top-4 years, the criticism has been sterile.

As soon as United finished 6th, it was suddenly the 'Top 6'.

Hopefully ....... if we have a shit pre-season he could be sacked in July

I saw that Brentford fixture and my first thought was "I know we are shit, but when did we drop into Division 1"

Arteta's future will be depend on how he handles the transfers. If he can get couple of good recuits ( a quality CM and atleast a good full back) he could scrape through the initial hurdles ( Chelsea and MC, preferably a draw atleast against Cheski and a hard fought draw or a close defeat against MC), he can build on it afterwards. But if he pursues mindless transfers, he would be gone by early September.

I’ll be surprised if we get 6 points from the opening 6 based on last season’s performances
