Hard to disagree, two 8th places and now Europe and a club who’ve gone from the top to midtable isn’t indicative of a club with ambition, neither is stay away owners who know nothing about football and allow a rookie who’s failed to carry on.

It is different, Emi left because he didn't want to play second fiddle to Leno, Buendia allegedly chose Villa over us because we are not going anywhere. How are the 2 even remotely the same Ozim?

What does he have against saliba? ffs

So we pay someone a fair amount of money and take up a place in the squad because he's liked? Can he play football to the level we need him to? In my opinion, no, sell him.

he was voted for the team of the season in ligue 1 you absolute lemon :rofll:

Who are you talking about, I'm talking about Holding, does he play and Ligue 1????

my post was about saliba :dontknow: :rofll:

Actually - your post was about Holding AND Saliba, Paddy.

Not interested in Maddison.

Maddison seems a dick off the pitch but quality on it.

Bring him home

Here’s the problem with rebuilding.

Three years ago we let Wenger go and started rebuilding under Mislintat. Here’s an account of the players bought by him.
Mkitaryan, Mavrapanos, Torreira, Guendozi, Lichtensteiner, Sokratis all gone or imminently gone.
Leno wants to leave.
Auba has been a success.

So that entire build with god knows how many million spent was a waste.

Two years ago we started another semi rebuild under Raul.
Saliba, Mari, Luiz, Suarez, Ceballos, Soares, Willian all gone or imminently gone.
Pepe doing ok but generally a disappointment for the price.
Martinelli stalled because of the manager.
Tierney doing well.

So for all the millions spent and years wasted we have just Auba and Tierney to show for our efforts.

Now we embark on another rebuilding exercise. Once again with two idiots at the helm. Any guesses for how this turns out?

It's not about "who is at the helm" they can't do much about board policy from a decade ago ... the problems started when the Wenger/Gazidis axis decided that contracts were going to become short-term with high salaries and low transfer values ... they were so confident that this was 'the future' that a high salary concept was introduced at Arsenal ... but they were wrong.

As more and more money poured into football high bonuses and LONG contracts became the only way to ensure clubs got full transfer value for their players - letting players drop below two years on their contracts was the kiss of death for transfers - as was having players on massive basic salaries - sadly the Wenger/Gazidis axis had sent us hurtling down this route ... short contracts and massive basic salaries.

Despite the board finally getting it "we will no longer allow players to drop below two years" actions speak louder than words, they have not done as they promised - of the so called big clubs we have by far the most starting players at two years or less - Odegaard (gone) Ceballos (gone) Luiz (gone) - Laca, Nketiah, Chambers, Elneny all entering their final year - Auba, Bellerin, Xhaka, ESR, Willock, Willian, Nelson all entering the last two years .... that's 14 players.

If we were doing a proper job all these players would either be sold now or have their contracts renewed - it's been the same issue every summer since the axis of doom screwed our contract policy - the longer we let it go the lower we will drop.

We are at the last chance saloon - if we don't fix it this summer we are truly fecked - that's if we aren't fecked already.

Like I said before I don't mind wholesale changes.

We need to root out this slack mentality of comfortable Arsenal, Arteta is obviously staying unfortunately, so I'd rather see him with his own hand picked players rather than the old guard.

Specifically which players are you referring to in the Wenger/Gazidis era?

Shit honestly looks so bad. I'm not excited about ant of our rumoured signings, and think most of them are actually awful moves. They also highlight just how bad Arteta is. His vision is just something to be avoided at all costs.

So far his vision is likened to somebody on magic mushrooms. :)

60m on maddisson
50m on white

110m outlay on these two players

money could be spent better imo

maddison is very hold and cold and for 50m you could find much better value for money in terms of defenders.
