The wage squeeze is based on PL rules rather than how much money we have

I agree.

There are players not attached to our apron strings who are under paid and are as good as what we have but with a better attitude.

Look at Lich, we got him for FREE and he's as good if not better than any Fullback we have at the club.

For the wages etc Ramsey is demanding we could replace him relatively easily.

Tbh its more the attitude I'm concerned with, yes get paid, that's understandable but if you try and hold us to ransom which is what he's doing trying to run down his contract then fk him off immediately.

We really need to stop acting like these players are irreplaceable when that's far from teh truth, we're not doing ourselves any favors.

Please name which midfielders who are better than Ramsey could we get for around the same fee of 15-20M we'd get for Ramsey in January if sold?

I know how this is going to go. He's going to give you a list of midfielders, and then you'll just say they aren't better than Ramsey.

Well that's the issue isn't it.

We "could" of sold him two weeks ago and then the £15-£20m would of been £30-£35m maybe more like £40m with a bidding war.

But now we're screwed, he's in the last 12 months and tbh the decision now is do we let him leave for free next season or do we cash in £20m and try to incite a bidding war and use that toward another mid.

Thing is if he signs, fine, if he doesn't I've seen this situation with us so many times I know how it ends.

I presume it's still to do with his fitness but was surprised he started vs City.

'Dropped' is a bit harsh. We're playing a formation which doesn't suit him.

Doesn't suit the man picked over him either, though.

How did I know this was coming?

https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/footba ... 16901.html

He won't be able to fleece us so he'll run down his contract, should of sold him, happens almost every time, why we allow this is ridiculous.

Swap him for Martial in January (plus some money). Both would run their contracts out at the end of the season and both clubs could benefit financially from this move.

While Ramsey’s agency used Twitter last week to dismiss the notion he wants parity with Mesut Ozil — who signed a £350,000-a-week agreement in January — that deal has complicated negotiations as it changed the parameters over what is a feasible demand for other leading players.

Yep, like I've been saying, giving Ozil 350k was retarded.

He's not worth that and now we've opened Pandora's box.

Meh.

Ozil is the first readymade world class player signed in the Wenger era. He's a World Cup winner. He's won in Spain and in Germany. He's the most popular German player—and the only star there—as much as Kroos might think otherwise. Ozil's popularity across the world is something else.

Ramsey has no business comparing himself to Ozil. It's almost laughable. Ramsey isn't at the same level - on the pitch or beyond it. Most casual football fans think Ozil when talking about Arsenal, not Ramsey.

Ramsey is only ever relevant in the UK - precisely within the Gooner circles.

It doesn't matter.

If Ozil is commanding 350k a week then it seems reasonable that Ramsey might ask for 200k a week - that's still 150k off our highest earner.

Point is Ozil is being massively overpaid and I said from the get go that his wages are ridiculous.
