Welbeck wasn't bought as back up to anybody, this is a nonsense.

Welbeck was highly rated by AW, hence why we bought him.

Welbeck was bought as a back up and alternative to giroud the more target man oriented player.

Welbs kept getting injured and couldn't produce regular goals, so we brought in more and ended up as a utility player.

Welbs is now not needed other than as depth on the wings.

How come when he was fit, he was picked over everyone except Giroud and Sanchez then? He was even picked over Laca as long ago as last season ffs.

I'm not saying that was the right decision, but wenger clearly rated him very highly.

He is not even needed there. Perez, Iwobi, Mikhitaryan and Nketiah can all play out wide. Guaranteed he is still here only on the basis of his citizenship.

Welbeck is better for the squad than Iwobi and Perez. Nketiah should get a chance but he's a striker and as yet unproven.

People should really get over Perez, he's more technical than most our squad and looked good in his limited time but clearly he's not that good otherwise he'd have played, failing that he'd have done better at Deportivo last season rather than getting booed.

Also we played some decent football with Welbeck up top, even when we lost 3-1 to Barca we looked good and he brought fresh life to the team with some pace up front. Don't need him there now we have Laubazette but he's perfectly capable of being wing depth, everyone jokes about him being a defensive forward but at times you need his high work rate, he could be useful in the big away games.

He was injured for 2 years after signing for us and lost a lot of his coordination and power unfortunately. We will never know what kind of footballer he would have ultimately turned out to be.

That's not a reason to keep him on for a decade like we did with Wilshere and Diaby. It's a new day at Arsenal. Bye Danny.

It's pretty obvious why we needed somebody - anybody - who could fill in for Giroud for a while. Thus, Welbeck became our lad. He was never going to be a goal poacher. He was never going to be even on Giroud's level. He was always going to be a back up option.

Now that we have Aubameyang and Lacazette, we should thank Welbeck for his services and move him on.

It was no excuse. We needed a striker before Giroud got injured

Agreed.

Lost his coordination? He had never had much coordination to begin with.

Injuries didn't take away talent he never had. He is a runner.

Welbeck was a joke at utd, he never developed into a top player under two great managers. says it all.

Diffrence is, Fergie found a way to use him, like he always did with the likes of Park, Anderson, O'Shea.

Unreal manager.

Welbeck was highly rated by AW, hence why we bought him.

Wenger himself said he would NOT have signed Welbz had be been in the country.

That's Wenger tight arse for you, even with an injured Giroud, he was busy in Italy on TDD, and didn't want to spend "his" money. He wanted him though, look at the rest of his statements from that interview.
