Nas's verse on Main Source's "Live at the BBQ" is legendary.

To think he was only 17 at the time it was recorded in early '91. Ridiculously extensive vocabulary for a teenager.

It features on Breaking Atoms, one of the best non-mainstream east coast albums of the golden era.

Don't sleep on it.

Drake isn't lyrical at all tbh.

Big Pun and AZ are also two of the greatest lyrically.

Lyrically still relevant after 26 years.

Props to you, Zenith, for splitting the rap threads and having the golden age as one. <3

Funny how you mention what is arguably their worst album to date.

No, mate I'm just not really feeling a lot of the more recently released stuff.

Nothing better than digging into the historical archive of music and (re)discovering timeless gems.

Just taking care of what should have been done a long time ago.

Erm iirc only snippets have been released, how can you rate an album based on that?

Oops, thought you were talking about the '08 album "Soundtracks from the Shaolin Temple ".

Didn't know about the whole situation surrounding their latest album until just now - the 88-years reference all makes sense now.

Forgive me it was late and I was knackered.

I'm the same. Not much I like from any of the new artist these days. Nobody is doing anything new. So the old stuff is just nostalgic and timeless to me, I'll always go back to it. Lyricism is lost as well it seems.

This just isn't true mate. I'm fine with people preferring old school rap and saying it's better but to say that there's nothing new means you aren't actually looking hard enough.

Well it's a opinion of course, so nobody is wrong or right, but creatively it seems to be all the same or just not any good, in my opinion of course. And of course when I say nobody in this sense it means not a many.
