Respectfully disagreeing.

I understand the pull of such an anti-mainstream, hardcore political mother f***er... but when you break it down and look at style, voice, flow, style of lyricism etc etc ETC.... he aint all that.

He's got some interesting anti-establishment beliefs, and if you have the same beliefs, then his rhymes and music probably sound like gold dust. But really, if you take the interesting concept away from his tracks, he's jsut a very average rapper, both skill-wise and style-wise.

That's my opinion at least.

Anyone can make their opinions rhyme if they thought about it long and hard enough.

Welcome to the forum by the way ;)

Not a big fan of the genere as a whole, but there are definitely a few that I like. Very underrated in Mos Def. Lyrics are very good, he just spout off the same BS all day long, need a voice modifier, or repackage pop-culture garbage to sell to young teens.

The independent Hiphop scene really blew up in the late 90's, and it was largely due to Rawkus Records.

The artists that made that label what it became were: Company Flow, Pharoah Monch, Hi-Tek, Talib Kwali and... Mos Def ;)

All about street rap/trap nowadays, it's the way America and the UK is moving.
