Very subjective I know but I'd like to know who you'd consider to be the greatest rapper of all times.

For my money I've never subscribed to the view that Biggie was the greatest, despite the fact he had lyrics and flow.
Similarly I wouldn't vote Jay-Z as the best, lyrical content & delivery notwithstanding, even though one has to take into account he NEVER writes down his lyrics.

Nas, and I mean back in the day Nas (Illamtic), was one of my favourite rappers. That album was one of the best debuts to ever be dropped.

But the greatest rapper of all times in my humble opinion is Rakim. He changed the way MCs rapped in-so-much-as he was an early pioneer of double-meanings wrapped in intricate rhymes and delivered pitch perfect. All this WITHOUT swearing.

Listen to his work. He was a visionary.

But surely UK's greatest HipHop export has to be Slick Rick. A Tooting boy no less.

2Pac and Snoop are my all-time old school favorites, so I got to go for one of them.

Out of the new school ones, I like Kanye Nas and Jay-Z the best, but I don't think either are to be considered all-time best YET.

Rakim is without doubt one of the best of all time (Eminem amongst others is a big fan) but my personal favourite is Grandmaster Melle Mel.
I just love old school because I was there when it happened and for me he started the whole thing. His voice is absolutely unmistakeable and he's one of the few rappers who pay attention to the rhythm.
Nice to have proper musicians behind it all too.

Good shout on Rakim, he did change things. Illmatic was pretty much a perfect album, but Nas wouldn't have been half the artist he was if it wasn't for Rakim's influence.

All time best, for me, still has to be the man at the top of my list... DOOM. He's just done too much. He was one of the better emcees in the early 90's as Zev Love X from KMD, but didn't do much. Two albums with a group that looked to take a different approach to things, but unfortunately always stayed under the radar. It wasn't til he took a break and started rapping again in the late 90's that he caused a stir. The word 'original' doesn't do him justice.

Best flow? Voice? Style? Lyrics? Lyrical style? Most original? Bit difficult to hit all of them but DOOM comes the closest for me.
