But on a serious note, you're entitled to your own geriatric opinion, even if it's wrong. Different strokes for different folks.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

I'm also glad smoking is declining. Now only if vaping would become untrendy too, but that won't happen for the foreseeable future. It's like asking for shisha to become irrelevant.

I'm not suggesting that regular people should take drugs in their regular lives. For most people drugs should most deffinately be avoided

But if you like the Beatles / Stones / Pink Floyd / Oasis / Hendrix / or in fact Mozart and most of his crew, and condemn drugs out of hand you're a hypocrite..... most of the best music ever made has been made by people who were high as a kite

I'm not outright condemning drugs because who am I to tell other people what they can do to their bodies? But that doesn't mean I can't also be happy to see its usage decline since people would be healthier by not resorting to using drugs.

One of my favorite rappers, Lil Wayne, was known for guzzling purple drank. And my favorite band, Portugal. The Man, is known for psychedelic rock.

There is no correlation between taking drugs and making great music.

It just so happens that a lot of rock musicians (mostly from the 60s and 70s) used drugs.

But the whole "drugs make you more creative" narrative is bullshit.

Mozart and Noel Gallagher were clearly making music in the 1960s then

Almost every major influential musician in history has been a dopehead

So drugs are the source of musician's talent?

No not entirely

But it seems a hell of a coincidence that almost every major musician over multiple eras has taken a disproportionate amount of drugs

I don't think it's a coincidence, I just think drugs were/are part of Rock n Roll culture.

Especially in the 60s, psychadelic drugs were new, people were experimenting.

95% of rappers smoke weed; a lot of them now use Molly, lean, xanax, percocet etc.

It's just the culture.

Yes but who's to say which comes first, the drugs or the music? I think it's kind of like a performance enhancer for them, both creatively and for endurance

The Beatles took all sorts, everything you can name. But it started as a mechanism to get through huge five-hour long live gigs in Germany. If they didn't play they didn't get paid. So they needed "a little help from their friends"

Mozart used to sit up all night writing music. The opiates he took kept him awake, but did they also alter his thinking and give him an edge creatively? Probably.

Do you know what you get when a musician doesn't take drugs? Phil Collins. Cliff Richard.

Horrific.
