Came across this performance on Youtube, if your a fan of the song you should give it a look, great performance from a seasoned pro from the 80's / 70's when Britain was producing world class musical talent ............ what's happened to our talent now, fk know's.

It's being suppressed by a music industry that likes to create it's own artists.

Phil Collins was huge in the mid 80s. Right at the top of the game. In The Air Tonight was one of those tracks that was so big and got played so much that people got fed up with it.

Absolutely.

People like Simon Cowell and their factory line of over produced trash.

Its because the big names and brands in the industry want to corner the market, I don't think they liked the idea of these little Indie labels turning up with a band like Oasis who go on to sell millions or someone stumbling across the next Michael Jackson.

You literally have a room of "Music execs" saying stuff like "That won't sell, we know what works".

But musics funny like that, you never really know what artist is going to take off or what the public will respond to, I watched the film Bohemian Rhapsody and didn't realise Freddie Mercury had to fight to get that song on the album because of another know it all music exec who said it was a crap song.

Can you imagine Ian Dury turning up on the X factor?
It’s criminal that a country so steeped in music gives up so much air time to the utter pap that constitutes supposed talent

The saving grace may be that the music industry has been completely turned on its head by people downloading for free.

For the past 60 years and more artists have been performing live in order to sell records. Now it's the other way around. They are quite often happy to more or less give recorded music away in order to let people hear what they sound like in the hope it will lead to bigger audiences at live gigs.

Performing live is where artists make their money these days.

There is a very good documentary on Netflix that I watched over Xmas Phil called how can you mend a broken heart
It’s well worth a watch
A few years ago I was sitting at a traffic light in the cab waiting to turn right into Edgeware road
Glancing at an article in mojo about the bee gees
When a voice in a car alongside me started asking for directions
When I looked up it was lulu who had been married to Maurice Gibb
Always struck me as one of those strange moments that only seems to happen in films
If I had only had David Bowie in the back who she had a fling with after it would have been a Stella street moment
