The Old Skool Jungle Thread

The Old Skool Jungle Thread

Postby gzagee » Mon Apr 13, 2009 1:13 pm

I thought I'd share with you some of the sounds which not only defined my youth but put an exclamation mark on it.
It was early 1993, I'd just left school about 2 years or so previously and my mates around the block were burning ganga as if it was going into extinction. I'd go round there to get my fortnightly short, back & sides and 'bun' a likkle weed and ting, when one evening they'd built a boom box and started playing this tune

This was Jungle! And I couldn't get enough of it! Jungle was the precursor to drum n bass, and whatever else followed. Later I would get into House & Garage, Funky n Soulful.

I listened to less and less hip-hop, rnb and ragga and started frequenting raves such as Sunday Roast, Orange, Jungle Fever and World Dance.

If you's remember any other tracks from 93-95 put it on and dance away.

In the meantime, allow me to indulge myself as I remember the nostalgia of my rebellious youth. :cloud9:
