Absolutely love steely Dan
Fantastic musicians
Great vocal harmonies
Seen aor used as a pejorative against them
But they are so much better than to get lumped in with a genre
I was listening to Haitian divorce the other day
Another fantastic song in fact it is their biggest uk chart hit
Can you believe that grandma’s party by Paul Nicholas was higher in the charts?
Such a mishmash those years between glam and punk were
There were jewels to be had but you had to do a bit of sieving

Steely Dan was a steam-powered dildo in William S Burroughs' 1950s novel Naked Lunch.

Hard to believe now mate but they were playing this on radio 1 for about 4 years
Before it became a hit
In the throwaway nature of music now where
Songs come and go and radio 1 chase the yoof
DJ’s do not have the trust to be passionate about a song or a band
Reading John peels book, it’s an entertaining read
Now I found a lot of his shows unlistenable
But there is no doubt he loved the music and was always somebody who brought his own take to radio
Even at a football ground you could hear good half time tunes
Coventry was alway good for a bit of reggae
Sure I heard a bit of junior Murvin there
Back in the day when vaesson got the winner up there
Mind you before I go too rose tinted glasses
You would probably jump in the car afterwards and hear sad cafe in concert on the radio afterwards..... not good for anybody

With this track came the advent of a new sound within the total body of electronic music.

This was THE club track for a long while in the 80s.

Concert celebrating the life of George Harrison. His son Dhani on stage with some of George's friends.

Superb rendition of My Sweet Lord

There is a fantastic moment in that concert for George where Joe Brown comes on with a ukulele and sings one of George’s favourites
I’ll see yo in my dreams.
Not a dry eye in the house
