Eye-opening four part documentary looking again at the case.
Had never seen the interview tapes with Lees before but didn't think she come across well at all. Quite naive and a little bit callous but that may have been part of the game.
If it was insurance fraud though who claims if he dies?
A lot of unknowns that I wasn't aware of before, the sighting by the lorry driver of the car with a slumped passenger in the back seat before he saw Lees, the couple at the gas station who saw Falconio. Still, the only thing ties Murdoch to the crime was the DNA on Lees t-shirt.
Will start the Salisbury Novichok 3-parter on iPlayer tonight.
The Australian police arrest Murdoch through the DNA match, and their media plaster his photo all over the place. Joanne Lees sees his image on the BBC website. She then attends a photo line up with the UK police and picks him out as the man who attacked them!
