The 'gangster' types that were referred to, were of the black variety. An accurate description with absolutely nothing racist about it.

I know more white people who think there gangstar in East London/Essex you come over Debden when I'm refin you'll see the wannabe's

I'm not doubting that for a minute - i've got a cousin who thinks he's one of the Krays.

But the comment we're on about wasn't racist at all.
