I was told a personal story by a man back in the 80s. He had served in the Royal Navy and was captured by them. An Australian man in their camp had escaped and was captured after some effort. The camp guards broke his feet with hammers.
When he recovered some months later he escaped again. This time when he was caught he was hung by his arms in the main yard, and the whole camp were brought out. A guard cut the man's belly open and pulled out a small piece of his intestine, which he enticed a dog to pull at. The dog pulled the man's intestines out as it ran off with the end.
