Uncut Gems.

Pretty mental. Sandler is great in the lead role of Howard as he moves from one desperate situation to the next.

It wasn't quite as anxiety inducing as I was expecting but still a good ride.

I’ve got a theory about Parasite winning the best film Oscar. I reckon it was a combination of them wanting to be different to the Golden Globes and the Baftas, plus the criticism about the lack of diversity that made them choose a film that no one had ever heard of!

If they had chosen 1917, they would have confirmed their insignificance!

Didn’t even know the movie Parasite existed until The Academy Awards! tbf

However, it is not the first time a movie I have never heard of has won a big award!

It's why Oscars aren't taken seriously anymore.

I reckon:

Academy board member #1: "Shit! We didn't put any black people up for awards again!"
Academy board member #2: "Yeah I just saw that. But hey look! There's a Korean one!"
Academy board member #1: "There is? Where?"
Academy board member #2: "Right there!"
Academy board member #1: "Oh yeah! Fantastic! Korean it is then."

Has anyone actually watched the film along with the other nominations to make a call on this?

Oscars is just a stump for political speech from millionaires.

The Oscars are a joke. Best movie of the year is always something very few people have ever seen or head of lol. I saw like 30 movies last year/this and never heard of Parasite.

literally no cinemas here are screening parasite like what the hell am i supposed to do find out about it.

Ford v Ferrari, Once Upon a in Hollywood , or Joker (haven’t seen Jojo Rabbit yet) should have won it, and Tarantino should’ve won best director

I enjoyed Once upon a time etc....but it was never a 'best film' ! Diverting, but not original....just a pastiche of historical Hollywood stories with a wham bam ending. (which was fun!)

I agree. It was good but it would probably have been more of a shock if it had won.

To be honest I thought 1917 was nailed on to win as a technical achievement at least. Not seen parasite but keen to watch it as I’ve have seen The Host and Snowpiercer which are two of the directors other films and they are pretty good too. I think they are doing something with Snowpiercer like making a tv series from it :dontknow:

They have made a series of snow piercer it's going to be on Netflix from the end of May
It features Jennifer Connelly who who won a best supporting actress for a beautiful mind. They are making a series of parasite as well.
