GoonersWorld Academcy Award Best Film League

GoonersWorld Academcy Award Best Film League

Postby Angelito » Tue Feb 21, 2017 2:32 pm

Okie guys, so here we have it. We'll pick the best runner-up movie for the Best Film category at the Oscars. Movies from 2001 until 2016. The winners are automatically excluded for another category, which will follow this. This is just about the best movie not to have won the Oscars (Best Film) amongst the nominated ones.

For this competition, there will be 24 groups randomly generated. Groups 1 until 20 feature 4 movies each; Groups 21 up to 24 include 3 movies each. For the groups with 4 movies (1 until 20), please select 2 movies as your vote to progress to the next round. In groups with 3 movies (21-24), please select 1 movie from each group as your nomination.

So, here are the rules in brief:

- 2 movies advance to the next round from Group 1 until 20;
- 1 movie advances to the next round from Group 21 until 24;
- If you haven't watched a movie, pick among those you've watched, or if not any - you could ignore that group and move to the next group;
- 44 movies will qualify for the next round - the knock-out rounds.

In the group stages, we have 92 movies:

Group 1 - Grand Budapest Hotel winning against all three. Lost in Translation with a comfortable 2nd place. Scarlett nearly grabbed the last minute winner but Ralph manages to hold on

Group 2 - Only one ive seen here is the Pianist. The only one ive heard of of the other three is Ray.

Group 3 - Possible group of death. Gangs of New York for sure. After much deliberation ive gone for Silver Lining Playbook

Group 4 - Traffic and The Hours. Only ones ive seen

Group 5 - Babel and Letters film

Group 6 - The Blind Side and Munich

Group 7 - Avatar and Black Swan. Avatar the early favourite to win the whole thing

Group 8 - Havent seen any. Do I still vote?

Group 9 - This is the group of death ffs. Life Of Pi and Wolf Of Wall Street.

Group 10 - Moneyball and District 9
