Certain CGI's tend to have a detrimental effect on the genre; straight forwardness was always horror’s most effective tool and I'd be surprised if the movie turned out to be a step up from the original.

The book is definitely a horror classic and arguably Stephen King's best horror novel.

So the first round of Dunkirk reviews have dropped, and the praise has been unanimously positive. Nolan's best reviewed movie by far:

Fantastic news.

Got 5 stars from The Guardian, they too are calling it his best work.

Sounds like it's not your generic Hollywood war film with action galore.
