Shutter Island?

Shutter Island?

Postby ewalborn15 » Tue Feb 23, 2010 9:35 pm

Without giving too much away in the ending . . . Does anyone know exactly what happened at the end of it? The ending confused me when he says he's teddy again. What are your thoughts? 'cause it has been bothering me four 2 days.

Despite that it was a fantastic film and I recommend seeing it.

I think me and The Lady might see this tomorrow. Either this or Alice In Wonderland in 3D.

Alice in Wonderland looks quality, very dark, i would expect nothing less from Tim Burton however.

f***ing Odeon c**** boycotted it though...

Might see this Shutter Island at the weekend..

I strongly recommend it gang. But if you do let me know what you think of the ending. Once again trying not to give anything away.

I watched this last night and thought it was brilliant! The only thing I didn't get about the ending, was he lying and he really did know who he is was and what he had done? It was the last comment he made before being taken away that made me wonder.

The idea that's been put to me is that he actually isn't Teddy, but he just can't live with what he did as himself (can't remember his name, been a while since I watched it) and so basically committed suicide by telling the shrinks that he still believes he's Teddy.

I may be missing something though, haven't watched it for months.

Either that, or he really is too crazy to know who he is...

That's why I liked the ending, there's really no knowing.

I just can't accept that. There's just something in my personality... there has to be an answer damn it!!!!!!!

I actually got into a little debate over the ending with Dejan, I figured that ending (the one above) was a little too obvious.

On to the next one... Incepetion. Was he still in a dream?

And talking of open endings, haven't seen it for a while, but Donnie Darko. I ruined it by buying the Director's Cut after seeing the original. The Director's Cut shows you what Donnie's reading when he's reading through The Philosophy of Time Travel. The original left me wondering, the Director's Cut explained everything.
