Its just the crusades and medieval time films that do it for me. A bit more brutish riding nto batlle with a longsword instead of hiding with a riffle.

Gladiator has got to be up there....

Nobody has said 300 btw...

300 was too gay. Seriously it was one long sausage fest.

Hard to pick a favourite but, Where Eagles Dare, Kelly's Heroes, Guns Of Navarone, Das Boot, Stalingrad and Downfall are some classics.

It was indeed, i still enjoyed it though as it was a visually stunning film that took a well worn story and breathed new life into it though.

Yeah it was very different visually, but I watched it with lady fab. her mate and her husband, the two women didn't mind seeing tons of ripped men wearing basically nothing, me and him on the other hand kept talking about really manly stuff for some reason.

A bridge too far is classic, and actually a hell of a lot more true to what actually happened than people think.

Full Metal Jacket

And for the civil war elements in it, The Good The Bad and The Ugly.

Can I just say that Black Hawk Down was complete bollocks. Good sound though.

Yes I didn't like Black Hawk Down either, in fact I never like any modern day war film. That is why I am not bothering with Hurt Locker.

Has anyone seen the recent film about the seige of Stalingrad with Gabriel Byrne in it? I am thinking that might be a guddun.

Haven't seen, it but the best film about Stalingrad, is surprisingly called Stalingrad. German film that doesn't glorify WWII. I am with you on the modern war films though Rev, most are rubbish. Downfall is an absolute masterpiece, though it probably isn't an actual war film.
