Recently I went to the pictures only to see two trailers of two new horror films that look to be the bee-fucking-knees.

The first one is called The Fourth Kind

The second is called Paranormal Activity

Both look like top class films. Im especially looking forward to the first one! :D

I have heard that Paranormal Activity is probably one of the scariestfilm's ever made and that it only cost something like £60,000 to make. It one of those Blair witch budget films..

The draw for Blair Witch was that when it came out people weren't sure if it was a movie or someone's home video that was found; this was what the main interest in it came from. Once it was realized that it was staged, you could appreciate how truly poor the acting was and the immense lack of script. Paranoral Activity is supposed to be a bit more professionally filmed project, plus an ending was added Spielberg saw it suggested an alternate one, so it should at least be well written.

Wow, PA looks good, Blair Witch was wack, but Cloverfield was quite good and was the same home made film kind of format

I saw Paranormal Activity last weekend on DVD and man that was a head f**k.

If you expect anything gory, or jumpy - then look elsewhere.

I've seen people complain about how slow it can be to build up but to me, the tension built up perfectly. The couple in the film have a great chemistry and the tension is thick throughout and it messes with you psychologically. If you can deal with hand held camera stuff like REC, Blair Witch etc then you'll enjoy it - the cinema ending is different to the DVD version but I think the DVD version is more realistic and reality based. Steven Spielberg apparently advised the director to change the ending for the cinema and it's a little too 'Hollywood' for me. I can't recommend it enough. It's out at the end of November in the UK from what I've read, so I'll be going to see it again once it's out. One of my movies of the year, without question.

It reminds me of the numerous Asian horrors I've seen (not the ghastly American remakes) in that you see images and little bits in the dark that just freak you out far more than anything too blatant like someones heart being pulled out their chest etc. If your want a head f**k and especially if you want you woman still sleeping with the duvet over their head a week later (like mine), then check it out.
