The FIA have made a very quick about turn -

F1 in disarray over scoring plan

Formula 1 looks set to scrap plans for a new scoring system in 2009 just nine days before the start of the season.
The sport's governing body, the FIA, announced earlier this week that the driver with the most wins would be crowned world champion.

But following a protest on Friday from F1's teams, FIA says it is prepared to defer he new system until 2010.
That seems certain to happen, meaning the old system, in which the driver with most points wins, will be used.

The 2009 season begins on 29 March with the Australian Grand Prix.

FIA had argued that the new scoring system would make racing more exciting by encouraging drivers to chase wins.
But several drivers, among them defending champion Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, criticised the change.

That prompted a statement from Formula One Teams' Association (Fota), which claimed the amendments were invalid because the proper protocol had not been observed.

"It is too late for FIA to impose a change for the 2009 season that has not obtained the unanimous agreement of all the competitors properly entered into the 2009 Formula 1 Championship," read the statement.

What a shambles, but they had Schumacher, Hamilton and Alonso all coming out criticising it in 2 days and if your trying to make a new rule to create champions and world champions past and present come out and slam it then you know it is crap.

Also one up for constructor power over the despots Ecclestone and Mosley.


I am now looking forward to the new season again.

Even though this should never have been the case in the first place.
Expect it to reapear next year though...

If this is the best management that Ecclestone and Mosley can come up with then they need to step aside and let someone else run F1 in a proper manner. They seem to be making it up as they go along. When you consider the money and everything that goes into F1 their approach is a total farce.

I do think it's time for Ecclestone to step aside and let someone take over proseedings...
