Incredible. Just seen the replays and tuned into the Sky coverage.

You literally can't make out Grosjean as he is in amongst the flames with the front of his car embedded in the barrier. Without Hans device and halo he probably wouldn't have made it.

Cant they develop a diesel based fuel to use for racing? Would be safer. Of course it would require completely new engines but they build a new one from scratch most seasons anyway

Interesting dynamic for next race with George Russell standing in for Hamilton.

First, an uncomfortable situation for Bottas. He can’t win. Outperforming Russell is par. If Russell actually out-qualifies Bottas or beats him on race day, it’s panic stations.

Second, I also wonder how comfortably Hamilton is sitting. Suppose Russell drives on to a victory? This would fuel the fire of all those who say Hamilton only wins because of the car (I don’t think so, but the argument will be obvious).

Sure, this is all unlikely - chances are Russell will perform below Bottas somewhere in the midfield or upper half. But it sure adds spice to the next race!

Verstappen will win, Bottas is a useless pussy who always chokes and isn’t ruthless. Russell will be unfamiliar with the car and will do well to get top 3, if he does that says enough about the power of the car imo.

Good prospect but I think Lando, Leclerc and maybe even Albono are better.

Also Vandoornes career basically over before it even started. Surprised they overlooked him but they must be eying Russell for taking a 2022 seat.

Then again, I wouldn’t be surprised if Hamilton retires at the end of the season, always thought he’d want 8 but Covid might change that. So it could be a 2021 seat George is fighting for.

Tbf i don't think anyone doubted Merc have a ridiculous car, most champions nearly always have the best car

f**k sake max and leclerc out on first lap because of bottas squirming around like a r***rd n leaving too many cars stuck right behind him.

perez the only one of the 3 who survives.

Sakhir Grand Prix: Sergio Perez claims maiden win as Mercedes error costs George Russell https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/55209835

Looked to me like Russell was destined for the win until Mercedes monumentally f*cked up.

Gutting for Russell. Alarm bells for Bottas. Interesting debate to be had about relative importance of car versus driver talent?
