Senna, Shumacher and Hamilton are now the gold standard of drivers in F1. Fangio was an era apart and sadly we will never know if Villeneuve would have achieved what it looked he could have. Since he lost the rashness to his race persona Hamilton has dispelled the belief of Alonso being the most talented driver on the grid. It is clearly Hamilton in this generation, even when the Mclaren was the 3rd and even 4th best car on the grid he was winning poles and winning races. He did that in every ruleset of his career, whatever the strength of the car.
Honestly titles are not the go to for the best and now we race in twice the races we did in the 80s stats are not even that reliable. It may be Vettel who ends up with the big records but for those who have seen it all since the early 80s he does not hold a candle to even Pique or Mansell, let alone Senna, Schumacher and Prost when it comes to all round racing talent.
For me Senna is the GOAT and I say that for what he did at Lotus as much as what he did at Mclaren but Hamilton is not far behind him and it is great that he still has years lefty to do more.
