Verstappen could have easily avoided it.
He was being passed - no two ways about it - and decided to close the door with Hamilton more or less level with him.
I do think Hamilton was too aggressive, but of all drivers in F1, Verstappen should be the last to moan about aggressive driving. He's the worst.
I liked him up to today, but an aggressive driver then crying because he came up against someone who would not back down to his aggression is pretty pathetic.

It was a dangerous move from Hamilton and he rightly got the 10s penalty, but he was far enough up for Verstappen to both see him and avoid him. He decided not to. The reason Verstappen would 'need to avoid it'? Obvious really. If he had have been less aggressive himself he'd still have been in the race. Whilst Hamilton was aggressive the actual crash was caused by Verstappen. He had plenty of room to avoid it and the collision was 100% his choice.
He tried to bully Hamilton into backing off. Hopefully, Verstappen will learn that there are some drivers that is not going to work with. That move on the inside is the EXACT kind of move Verstappen makes and expects others to yield.
The most disappointing thing of all is Verstappen's crying on social media.
Seems like a race track bully - all fine when he's being aggressive. Cries when it's others.
It's the equivalent of the schoolyard bully finally getting a punch in the face and then running crying to the teacher.

Perhaps he should try another sport if he is unable to handle the aggression of F1 driving when he's on the receiving end of it.

Oh I see, getting personal now because I don't agree with Max's blubbering on social media.
Bottom line is Verstappen could have avoided it but he decided not to. He took himself out of the race through his own decision making.

Verstappen cuts in - even though Hamilton did actually brake AND gave him more room. The irony is that Verstappen could have taken a wider line and still been ahead.
His machismo got the better of him and he decided to cut in sharply when he had plenty of room.
It's hilarious to hear people say he had no responsibility to avoid the collision. What a load of crap. The 'it's my line and I am going to crash and roll the dice no matter what' mentality is exactly the mentality Verstappen has and it cost him.


He lost out.

Just a racing incident for me, these things happen sometimes

Max has lost a lot of respect by his whining - top drivers Prost, Senna, Lauda all raced wheel to wheel and never went whining to the press when they received or gave out the rough end of an incident ....

Bottom line Lewis slowed (images show he did slow) but fractionally too late and when Max turned in he collected the Mercedes - Lewis put his car too far into the corner --- something Max does all the time indeed he did just that at turn 4 where Lewis gave him room --- so for being fractionally late on the brakes Lewis got the penalty - but it was Max who turned into a space that wasn't there, he was always going to hit Lewis and being on the outside he was always likely to come off worst.

Overly aggressive from Lewis - just plain stupid from Max .... and then to go crying to the media? there goes any chance of being remembered as a true great ... and that's a shame.

It’s like Hamilton said in his car interview after the race. He saw the gap and he went for it where as in previous occasions he had allowed himself to be bullied by Max’s aggressive driving.

Great win for Lewis especially considering the championship. Should be good from here on.
