Formula one has more twists and turns than Eastenders. :BangHead:

It does and even though I was pleased at this decision it's obvious that the nit-picking is reaching epic proportions. They seem to want to haggle over every little thing.

I think dropping Vettel down 10 places was much much worse than this. It is a harsh decision but if that is true then they only have themselves to blame as it is unsporting.

Team veteran suspended by McLaren

Hamilton is at the centre of a row that has claimed the job of a senior McLaren figure

The fall-out from Lewis Hamilton's exclusion from the Australian Grand Prix has led to a top McLaren official being suspended from his job.

Sporting director Dave Ryan has been suspended after 35 years with McLaren.

Hamilton gave stewards "deliberately misleading" evidence after Jarno Trulli was disqualified for passing him while the safety car was out in Melbourne.

Ryan accompanied Hamilton to both of his hearings with the Formula 1 race stewards in Melbourne on Sunday.

At a news conference in Malaysia on Friday, Whitmarsh said Ryan had not been "entirely full and truthful with the answers he gave [to the stewards], so we had not alternative but to suspend him".

He added that although Hamilton had also been "not entirely truthful, Davey was the senior member of the team, so he is responsible for what happened".

Whitmarsh said: "He did not set out with a deliberate intention to mislead but during the course of the meeting he was not as clear as he should have been. He made a very serious error of judgement and is paying the consequences of for that."

He said it was a "very sad day" for McLaren, adding: "It is a point of deep regret. For Davey, it's been a shattering day."

Whitmarsh also apologised to the FIA for the problems McLaren had caused.

He added: "In my 20-odd years working for McLaren, I doubt if I've met a more dedicated individual than Davey. He's been an integral part of McLaren since 1974 and has played a crucial role in the team's many world championship successes since that time."

Race stewards in Australia initially disqualified Trulli from third place for passing Hamilton behind the safety car.

But it later emerged that Hamilton had told the stewards he had not been asked by McLaren to let Trulli past him when the team's radio transmission proved that he had.

Trulli was running third in his Toyota, ahead of Hamilton, when the safety car came out three laps from the end of the race but he ran off the road at the penultimate corner.

Hamilton passed the Italian - as he was entitled to do, because the Toyota was fully off the track at the time but then his engineer can be heard ordering him to let Trulli back past again.

It is not clear why Hamilton did not make this information available to the race stewards at the time - he has not spoken to the media since his disqualification.

The stewards' hearing was reopened on Thursday in Malaysia and, after listening to team radio communications, race stewards reversed their decision.

BBC Sport understands that there is very little chance of Hamilton facing any further punishment over the matter, despite suggestions to the contrary on Thursday.

The Stevenage-born driver failed to shine in practice at Malaysia's Sepang circuit on Friday, finishing seventh and 11th respectively in the first and second sessions.

FFS they should've just told the truth. All this for 2 points?? Now someone has lost his job cos they changed their story.
The audio tape probably gave a clear indication of what was said between the parties so what's the point of being colourful with the truth?

The law states no overtaking during the safety car period.
Trulli went of the track so Hamilton had to pass him.
Both teams then sorted it out and let the Toyota back past.
So why did the stewards get involed? They should have just left it.
It's all bollocks!!!!

But in the original enquiry Trulli was relegated for making an illegal pass. Hamilton knew this wasn't so because he had been told to let Trulli pass but he sat on that information and let Trulli be disqualified. Hardly an honourable thing to do to a fellow driver.

They deserve the penalty but all the Hamilton haters i am hearing sharpening their knives on other forums need to put them away.

It was not down to him, he was told to do it by Dave Ryan, Formula 1 is about the team primarily and you do what the team wants, whoever you are. Going against the teams wishes is a big no no that can even lead you to get fired as happened to Arnoux in the early 80's.

If a big cheese at your team who has been there 35 years tells you to do something you do it, Hamilton said he regrets it but he had to follow orders. Dave Ryan is responsible and that is why he is suspended.

Either way the penalty is deserved but i thought i would stick up for Hamilton as the pathetic horde seem to be out for his blood again.
