Posting youtube videos

Postby UFGN » Mon Aug 05, 2013 1:48 pm

....from a smartphone

Ive figured out how you are meant to do it in theory......

Copy paste the youtube url into this set of brackets, [youtube][/youtube]

..... but its bloody tricky to do this acutately. Cant get the cursor in exactly the right place then paste the link without it moving.

Any suggestions or alternative ways of doing it?

There's an alternative YouTube BBCode that you can use, if you find it easier.

Code: Select all

So just [yt] and [/yt] instead of [youtube] and [/youtube]

Pretty useful shortcut, thanks Ellimist.

I've also seen forums and websites (for example clanbase.ggl.com) where you only need to c/p the YouTube video ID between [yt] (or [youtube]) and [/yt] (or [/youtube]).

For example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whk7aEVgmBg (bold = ID)

Would look like:
[yt]whk7aEVgmBg[/yt] or [youtube]whk7aEVgmBg[/youtube]

The outcome would be exactly the same.

Something like that would be pretty easy to implement, but I imagine copying a portion of the URL (video ID) will be more difficult on a phone than copying the full URL or the short URL.

Fair point - it's also pretty uncommon I believe, doubt there are many people would do it that way.

why has this been removed from the bb code options?

it's now impossible to link a video at a specific time ever since this change.

Is there anyway you could add it back?
