Thanks Button

Postby Arsenal~Fanatic » Thu Nov 01, 2012 9:10 am

The thanks button works is a nice feature to express your likeness for a particular post. Instead of quoting and saying thanks the thanks button underneath a post would be a nice idea. It is there on almost all the forums i am member of.

I'm not sure it would really get used. What do other members think?

I have no problems with quoting and I'm not familiar with the thanks button so I don't mind keeping things as is.

The 'thanks', 'like', 'rep', 'thumbs up' button kill many discussion boards. I suggest you steer clear of it. I am admin and member on different boards, that is my experience. Usually after about 6 months or so of many people liking the new feature, it goes downhill from there. It is only welcome if the programmers can be ready to bring something as exciting or more when the craze for 'thank'-ing,'rep'-ping, etc fades.

The 'thank' button is only useful in a media/file sharing website/forum.

I am not advocating reputation points. All i am saying is that a thanks button would avoid quoting of a page long post just to say thanks.

If you just have a like button then it does no harm, don't care either way.

I am a member of another Arsenal forum where we had a liking system (not like something through facebook.) and it basically turned into a 'who can get the most likes' contest because the total amount of likes that person had for all their posts was under their location thing next to every post.

Now, Though.. After taking away the likes count and just having the likes feature (and it's private so people can only see how many likes that particular post has and not who has liked that post.) It works well.

I'd like to think people on here wouldn't be that childish to care how many likes they had to be honest.
