Filter out the Politics threads on "View Unread Posts"?

I've been on GW since 2012 and greatly enjoy discussing Arsenal here. It's a more 'old school' type message board compared to other Arsenal boards that are too heavy on social media-driven discussion.

However, I can't stand seeing "American Politics" and "British Politics" at the top of "View Unread Posts" every single day. It's extremely toxic, and I've noticed that one person driving the toxicity NEVER posts about Arsenal. Surely there's got to be a rule about that?

If not, I'd love it if certain threads/subforums could be blocked entirely. I can write a query string on Ublock Origin to accomplish that, but that only works on my computer, and not on mobile.

Cheers for the support. Maybe if the forum infrastructure switches to Xenforo, this will be doable, as the extension exists to accomplish thread 'ignores':

+1 on this. The politics threads are a complete cesspool yet they contain so much rage bait that they are very difficult to stay away from. I wouldn't want them closed unless the vast majority of the forum does but any way to filter them out permanently would be amazing.

The forum is on its knees because it's infested with basic right wing reactionaries and obvious trolls, the mods don't give a shit and that's the issue in a nutshell

Fix it or don't. But if you don't the forum dies. You've already lost so many people because of f***ing shit moderation and prioritisation of the liberty of awful posters to do what they want.

Ang and Zenith, I'm sorry but it's an absolute disgrace the way this place has deteriorated and it's on your watch. What is the point of you two? If you can't see a problem or you don't know how to fix it, then you are part of the problem. Or am I wrong? What was the number of regular posters when you both became mods and what is it now? It's not only because of social media. It's a result of awful moderation that has actually got even worse.
