New Zealand Vs England Rugby Union

Postby gzagee » Wed Jun 11, 2008 12:57 pm

This Saturday a far more successful English team will be taking on a powerhouse NZ outfit in the first of a two-test rugby series.

As some of you may know England will field only a few players who played Ireland in the Six Nations in March AND only ONE PLAYER WHO APPEARED IN THE WORLD CUP FINAL!!
Due to a host of injuries which would've made for an episode in Holby City or ER, Rob Andrew (and the absent Martin Johnson) are forced to field a load of squaddies and virgins against the mighty Kiwis who, might I add are still reeling from their early exit after last year's ill-fated world cup challenge.
So... are there any avid Union followers out there (there seems to be a few RL followers), and if so, what do you make of our chances on Saturday morning?

I prefer rugby league but I am gutted I never knew this game was happening, I'd have got up to watch the Haka.
Reinvestment before Renewal.

New Zealand (3) 37
Tries: Smith, Carter, Muliaina, Sivivatu Cons: Carter 4 Pens: Carter 3

England (6) 20
Tries: Ojo 2 Cons: Barkley 2 Pens: Barkley 2

England were undone by momentary lapses in concentration which resulted in 14 points being conceded.
Ojo had a great debut and has firmly established himself in the England set-up.
Although Ireland were 21-11 losers last week, we must remember this England team were missing a whole host of regulars so a 17 point deficit isn't too bad.
Its a shame Danny Cipriani wasn't available but, not sure how much he'd have done to change the outcome.
