Argentina robbed but suppose their country is due some decisions against them.

Australia will get done in the final by the better team, poor in the QF, poor in the SF...don't deserve to win it imo.

Facts and evidence point to the fact that your argument is not sustainable.

1. This is the first EVER world cup where NO NH team has made the SF.
you are suggesting bad luck - i'm pointing to the fact that the SH teams are better. Argentina are now on a par with SA and not far behind Aus and NZ and are developign year on year.

2. the host nation - England (generally regarded as the strongest of the home nations given they have 40million to choose from) didn't even make it to the last 8.

3. France hammered by NZ by almost 50 points. Frances rugby philosophy is in tatters and going backwards

4. Ireland walloped by Argentina - conceding 4 tries. Ireland don't have strength in dept - 5 injuries and that was it.

5. Wales were beaten narrowly, but again came up short in a tight game.

6. Scotland WERE unlucky and IMO robbed of a SF place - however thems the breaks when you are in competitive matches.

7. Seven of the Coaches in the QFs of 2015 are Southern Hemisphere players/coaches. The only one who isn't was the French guy - and look what happened to him and his team

So in the 4 QFs, NH teams took two hidings, Wales lost narrowly and Scotland (arguably) were robbed.

The gulf is widening on the evidence being presented. NH Unions need to address the way the game is being played and developed from underage level onwards - it's like rugby League - big guys hammering into each other all over the pitch.

I've not suggested that it was bad luck that they didn't get to the SF, simply that on a different day different results can happen. That's not luck, that's probability when roughly even teams match. And the ABs aside, the other sides are relatively even, capable of beating each other on a given day.

I repeat, this time 12 months ago, the four SH sides who reached the SFs played 12 games against the NH sides you mention above. The record was 6 wins apiece. The previous year, the record was 3 NH wins, 9 SH. In 2012, 4 NH and 8 SH.

If the gap was getting wider and wider, why was last winter the most competitive series of games we had since the last WC?

Do the two biggest NH sides need to make an improvement - clearly yes. The fact that Wales, Scotland and Ireland between them have only reached 3 WC SFs in history between them (if my maths is correct) shows that when England and France both are terrible, the NH struggles.

Does this small sample of games indicate some massive shift from SH being better but not conclusively to a state of dominence as being suggested? No.

On an aside, simply saying Ireland don't have strength in depth was a little harsh - if you took arguably the 3/4 most important players out of most sides they would struggle.
