billy joe is having his first pro fight tonight , didnt win a medal in the 2008 games but is an unreal fighter!!

we were team mates for 6 years. must of sparred over 2000 rounds, 6 weeks before he went to the games he called and asked me to go to the england camp and sparr, lol... got battered!!

i did 10 with him, mite of won 2 at the most

then did 5 with the super/h dave price!!

there is no dout billy will be a world champion, i think his ama record was close to 85-7

he had his own van at 11, and would drive to the gym every night, about 15 miles each way!!

he is a gypo, no a normal dirty gypo but an english clean one!!!

watch him tonight... ss1....... i have lots of pics of us , i will post them soon

and his brother TOMMY SAUNDERS is better!!!! he is now 23, pro 4-0

Definately one to watch for the future then. I don't know as much about boxing as I would like to anymore. Guess I could probably use this site ( who'd of thought on a football forum? ) as my way back into the know.

I ain't got Sky so i'll miss the "olympians" fights.

Think i'll watch Jon Thaxton on ITV4 and then catch the Marquez v Diaz fight on Setanta later.

LRL, sorry to go off-topic, but Ive been considering boxing for a while now, as a way to get fitter, and sharpen myself up a bit.

Can someone who is really quite unfit still do training, or would a minimum standard of fitness be expected first?

(I'm kinda presuming you have done armature boxing, maybe wrongly)

From my point of view I think a minimum amount of fitness would be required. Try punching a bag for even just 10 minutes. It fucks you up a wee bit. I'd suggest going to the gym and doing the rowing machine and a few runs a week before you started. Just so you could give it a proper go.

most gyms have nights just for carded boxers who box, but there will be a few nights per week where every one can train, ama clubs need the subs and the bodys in there,,

go to your nearist boxing club and be straight, you dont want to fight , but want to train and they will weclome you no probs

at mine we have 25 boxers, and about 15-20 keep fitters, some birds some big fattys who love to hit the bags and stuff...

its so the best training

Boxing training is awsome, It covers the 3 main goals........CV fitness, speed and power, I would sugest working on a bit of Cardio first as that will give you a good solid foundation to get into the othe dicaplines..........
