Boxing's biggest rivalries

Boxing's biggest rivalries

For me:
1) Ali/Frazier

2) Hearns/Hagler/Leonard

3) I loved Eubank/Benn/Watson

I'd add Roberto Duran to complete that list.
There were some cracking fights between the four of them.

Who was the best of the 4?
I think that is a question without a definite answer.

Yeah, Duran too. But he was undisputed Lightweight king. He beat both Hearns and Leonard at that weight then lost to both men at Middleweight by KO or stoppage.

Have to say that Hearns vs Hagler had to be the best fight in terms of punching power, accuracy and combos! Three rounds of machismo madness!

Bowe and Lewis had an ongoing feud since they were amateurs but they never got it on as professionals.
That could've been a good un, especially when Bowe was at his peak.
The Bowe/Holyfield fights were throwbacks. Great fights!

Duran beat Leonard at welterweight, then lost to him at the same weight and then lost to him again as a super-middleweight nine years later.

Duran only fought Hearns once (at light-middleweight) with the Hitman KO'ing him in the second round.

I totally agree mate. It could've been a classic.
Unfortunately Bowe (or more likely Rock Newman!) never fancied the fight and called that press conference where Bowe dumped the WBC belt in a dustbin, rather than face Lewis in a mandatory defence.

I think Holyfield's win in their second fight (when the bloke in the hanglider crashed into the ring half way through the fight) was his finest performance at heavyweight.

Holmes fought Spinks only twice, and it was at the end of Holmes career, but it pretty much brought the end to his career. But the first was a very contraversial decision that ended Holmes undefeated streak that included beating Ali.

There was a lot of talk before the fight that certain people didn't want a black fighter equalling Marciano's record of 49-0.......

Oh yea, thats right, Holmes was just one short of it if I remember right, wasn't he?
Then after the Spinks remathc, he retired, tried to make a comback and then got pummeled by Tyson and a few others?

I think I was only about 7 or 8 years old at the time, but remember my dad peeking my interest of boxing around then.

He was indeed mate. Holmes was 48-0 going into the Spinks fight.

Holmes was an excellent fighter, very underated.
He had a terrific jab.
