Because he kept banging people out in the first 2 rounds. ;)

true but that doesn't change the fact that he had to be prepared for 12 rounds.

He wasn't fighting 12 rounders at the start of his career, they were 4,6 and 8 rounders.
His first scheduled 12 round fight was when he fought Berbick for the world title.

Louis/Schmeling
Clay/Liston
Ali/Frazer/Foreman
Hagler/Hearns
Leonard/Duran
Benn/Eubank
Toney/Jones Jnr

To me these have been the best match ups to date...........

Well, according to Raging Bull La Motta/Robinson was up there as well. And from what I've seen in the ESPN archives it was quite a rivalry.

What do you think of the conspiracy around the second Clay/Liston fight, Damo?

Well the first time around on paper Clay should never have beat Liston, Liston was an animal man imagine Tyson on steroids. But Liston was very wary of Clay and had to be goaded into fighting him. The first fight i think Clay beat him into submision, second time around Liston definatly took a fall man no doubt. Liston never even took a count from what appeared to be no more than a jab.

Liston was at best a dodgy dealer at worst i would say he was into bookies or Mafia for some money and quiet rightly the second fight put a stain on his career.
