Amir Khan is adamant he can become the first boxer to inflict defeat on welterweight king Floyd Mayweather Jr, stating he would "love" to star in a fight with 'Money'. Khan is currently training with Virgil Hunter in America, but has revealed his promoter Golden Boy is working to set up a bout with Mayweather Jr on May 3. Following his recent defeat of Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in Las Vegas, the unbeaten American is next expected to fight in May as part of his bumper 30-month, six-fight deal with Showtime. While Khan has long been touted to be named as Mayweather Jr 's next opponent, he stated negotiations were still ongoing - and that he would have to "make them old legs move" if he was to have any chance of beating the 36-year-old. "With Floyd Mayweather, if you're going to be a puncher, you're going to walk towards him and you're going to walk into his shots," Khan told Fox Sports 1. "To fight Floyd Mayweather, you have to box him at his own game. You have to box him. You have to use speed, good footwork. Make them old legs move. I would love the fight. It would be an amazing fight. It's a fight I've always wanted. We're still working on a few things. We were looking at a fight against Devon Alexander. That fell through. There's a lot of talk about the Mayweather fight happening, but at the moment, I've left it up to my team and Golden Boy."

Talks are officially under way now. Got to hand it to him, Amir isn't ducking opponents.

Khan wouldnt be able to lay a glove on him, only reason Floyd will take this fight is if he fancies a fight in the UK (he was jealous of Hattons popularity here compared to his own in the states) he'd sell out Wembley easy and it may not affect his deal he has with the MGM.

Khan is just looking for that final big payday, he knows his stock in America is in freefall and is cashing in his chips while they still have value.

No doubt when Mayweather teaches him a lesson in the ring he will put it dow to the failings of his coach... Who by the way is the man responsible for training the worlds no.2 p4p fighter.
