Just read that he lost his life. Very sad news.

Horrible news.

Fk off seriously!!!!

Ahhh man that's bad, I knew he was in trouble when he started convulsing on the canvas, his chest was expanding and detracting worse than if someone had finished a marathon.

That's so sad, apparantly he was a nice kid as well.

The price some pay to be a gladiator, bet his opponent is gutted as well.

I HOPE this is nothing to do with cutting weight!! I've been staunch against that practice for a long time, weakens the body right before a fight.

There are several ways the authorities could stop boxers cutting weight

They should pick a method and enforce it

Either simply weigh boxers on the day of the fight, or have a rolling average weight policy, with professional boxers weighed throughout the year, and their classification based on a six or twelve month average.

They used to weigh in on the day of the fight but greed kicked in when 30 or so years ago they had to cancel the headliner because someone didn't make weight and "day before" weigh ins were born.

At the very minimum they should be doing what the IBF does and you can't be more than 10 lbs over the weight limit day of fight.

............ on a side note no one knows if Day's death is weight related but whether it is or isn't, cutting weight the way athletes do now is a problem, that girl in Australia died from cutting weight and there have been people hospitilized even before the damn fight because of it!!

It needs addressing, you can't ask the body to go to war for 12 rounds receiving punishment when just 12 or so hours ago you were a dehydrated, depleted rake.

One of the benefits of being a Heavy weight is you don't have to do that cutting crap.

Just weigh them twice then. As is now, and also on the day. Maximum 3lb difference allowed. That is more than enough to alllow for natural fluctuation

Apparently Hopkins and Roy Jones will have a trilogy fight.

Wow, no way should this be sanctioned.

Hopkins is nearly 55 and Jones is 50.

Benn might've died if he fought.

Boxing is no joke.

I think he is mentally ill.

Saw him on the TV a few weeks back and he looks either punch drunk or mentally ill. He might be on some sort of prescription drugs.

Wouldn't surprise me if he has failed a medical due to something like that.

As I said a page or two back, fighters at that age may still be able to hit hard, but it's taking punches that's the problem. The body isn't as hard and you'd feel the pain so much more.

Not sure he should hang around at LHW though, he's a bit small for that div.

MW is pretty much perfect for him.
