The general boxing thread

^ Manny has only been ready since he got slept by Marquez. Prior to that they were both pussy footing about and arguing over dope testing.

It's imposible to know for certain but I believe both were hesitant to make this fight because they both had much to lose; since Manny lost to Bradley and was KO'd by Juan he has significantly less at stake than Floyd - who is still undefeated - which is why I feel that now Floyd is ducking whilst Manny is willing.

Regardless, they've been throwing shadows and feints at one another since '09, it is farcical and embarrassing. I don't even want it to happen now that they're both past their primes because neither deserve the extremely lucrative payday (100 + mill for Floyd) it would bring. Been stringing fans along for too long.

Mayweather and Pacquiao have finally, finally agreed to fight.

About 6 years too late. W****rs.

I know, Mayweather has been a bit of a coward in this.

He's waited for Pac to have a loss so he didn't have that unstoppable momentum coming into their fight.

^ Yes, even though I'm a Mayweather fan, he was indeed methodical in picking the right time to fight Pacquiao. He's seen Pacquiao lose twice (including being knocked out cold) and will also be aware that Pacquiao's hand speed and intensity has diminished significantly since 5 or so years ago.

Floyd himself has slowed down too, but because he's such a defensive wizard it's much harder to exploit his erosion; Pacquiao's decline is more telling as he relied on his offense - he'll struggle to land many clean shots on Floyd.

In their prime I'd still pick Mayweather but it would've been an intense and frenetic fight, now I just predict him coasting to a dull UD. Zzzzz.

Mayweather is the king of cherrypicking. If Paq was still as threatening as he was before then Floyd would never agree to this fight. His record means more than one match with Manny.

It will likely start at 3-4 AM UK time, so really it's early morning on May 3rd if you're in Britain.
