The general boxing thread

Pianetta stopped throwing after round 5 and it was target practice from there on but Fury looked good enough. Didn't go for the K.O. but he won every round and seems like he could've done 10 more. Wilder was in ring and the fight was confirmed to be in Las Vegas but the date is going to be "confirmed next week".

Good to see Wilder and Fury are man enough to face each other.

Meanwhile Joshua is cowering.

Good.

There is enough faffing about and waiting in boxing.

Make that shit happen asap.

Massive L for Joshua and Hearn, they want no part of either man.

Fury has fought only bums since he returned

Wilder is a pubber

Make them fight, winner faces Joshua

Really makes you wonder why Joshua is hesitant to fight a man who's been obese and on drugs for three years and a man who has only fought pubbers.

Joshua can land some real bombs, but he’s slow.

Fury doesn’t punch very hard, but he lands punches, and avoids getting hit very well. Probably the best in the heavyweight division at that. His awareness of distance in the ring is superb. He ties people up and, frustrates them, and tires them out. Not the most attractive, and not what the boxing public today want to see, but I’m sure he doesn’t give a shit about that.

I reckon he’d have a good chance of beating Wilder or Joshua on points.

Agree but Joshua is still an all-time great cause he ended the career of the snuggling Ukrainian sleeping pill. :1970_two_smileys_drinking_beer_together.gif:

Last time i checked, Joshua called out Wilder and Wilder ran and would rather fight fat boy Fury so Joshua took another fight

Seems like you never checked then.
1) Joshua didn't call out Wilder. Wilder called out Joshua and has been calling him out constantly ever since he won the vacated belts.
2) Eddie Hearn and Joshua did everything they could to duck the fight with Wilder and try to spin it like Wilder didn't want it. They sent Wilder an awful contract offering $12 million for the fight, and later around 20% of the purse.
Deontay Wilder has reportedly been offered a flat fee of 20 percent for his unification fight against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, according to Boxingtalk. If this offer is true, then it’s a big hint that Joshua and his management don’t fancy the fight with Deontay. Wilder not even getting a percentage of the gate and pay-per-view sounds bad. I can’t see Wilder and his management ever agreeing to that kind of a one-sided offer from Joshua.

If the Joshua-Wilder fight brings in $80 million, as many believe it will, then offering just $10M to $15M is way too low. Wilder should at least be getting $30M. If Joshua gets $70 million and Wilder just $10M, there’s an imbalance there.

I hate to say it but I saw this coming. I figured that Wilder would be thrown a few scraps when it came to the negotiations by being given a flat fee offer. If this is a take it or leave it offer by Team Joshua, then that’ll make it even worse. I expected that kind of offer as well. I hate when I’m right.

Wilder’s flat fee reportedly does NOT include a split of the gate or PPV. Wilder accepting a 20 percent split would obviously be hard for him to do. It was thought that Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn would at least offer Wilder a 60-40 purse split. But offering an 80-20 split is bad. If Joshua isn’t willing to sweeten the offer considerably for Wilder, then the fight might not happen.

Wilder even offered Joshua $50mil outright but they declined that too.

It's no wonder every professional boxer who spoke about this fight and isn't contracted to Eddie Hearn said the same thing - Joshua doesn't want to fight Wilder, at least not yet.

After Wilder last fight, he called out Joshua

Contract was offered

Joshua fights Povetkin

Wilder offered Joshua 5 times the money, Joshua offered Wilder.

Wilder will earn twice as much money fighting Wilder, even though it's not nearly as big a fight.

Stop me where im wrong

Never seen wilder fight and didn't see the call out to AJ

Never heard of him before AJ made him famous by calling him out

Anyway isn't this Povetkin pubber the mandatory number 1 contender?
