James DeGale vs George Groves

James DeGale vs George Groves

Postby gzagee » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:25 pm

Anyone see Ringside last night?

Nice bit of needle going on there. :sneaky:
Anyhoo the fight's been confirmed for 21 May 2011 at the O2.
Would like to get a ticket for this one. Although i expect DeGale to dispose of his old time foe with little fuss.

DeGale has developed as a professional far quicker than Groves and i think he should win this comfortably inside 5 rounds.
Groves best chance is to get under DeGale's skin (he won't find that difficult!) to such an extent that DeGale ignores his gameplan and gets reckless.

Will be a good fight and i'm glad it's been made.
Both fighters are young enough that a defeat won't harm their career, in fact it could be the making of them.

It's the kind of fight that could see a rematch in 5 years time which is very important, depending how the careers pan out. Hopefully whoever does lose, doesn't take a big confidence loss from it and still progresses well with their career.

DeGale comes across as an unarticulate thug whilst Groves manages to keep his cool and give a confident account of himself.
They obviously cannot wait to get it on.

Can't wait for this!

What a prick DeGale comes across as. Never seen a proper thing with him before.

Groves' comment about Harrison was genius. :D

Can anyone tell me the premise of the bet DeGale & Groves made?
As I understand it DeGale says if he wins he'll pay Groves's fight fee. Doesn't make sense to me :confused2:

Also I didn't know DeGale is a Gooner. All this time I thought he was QPR.

I'd be ashamed to have him involved with my club!

What an absolute mug Degale come across as in that video. Groves kept calm and actually made a decent account of himself whereas DeGale had to try and use personal insults to try and fight back.

He made an arse of himself in that interview.

"With Richie Davies calling it a 115-115 draw, Dave Parris and John Kean both awarded it to Groves 115-114."

Grove's win on points however Frank Warren isn't happy about this and is demanding a re-match.
