Mosley v Berto

Mosley v Berto

Postby Libertine » Sun Jan 17, 2010 9:25 am

Shane Mosley challenges for Andre Berto's World Title in a couple of weeks time, in the first big fight of 2010.

I bet Gzagee is looking forward to this one!

Opinions?

I quite fancy Mosley to win a points decision but it's always a worry with fighters heading into their mid 30's that they're about to age in the ring overnight.

Yes I am. :)

It will tell us where Berto really stands in the shake up. It'll be his first real test at World Class level.

I've been watching him sice he burst on the scene a few years ago.

A pocket Tyson they called him back then.

He seems to have developed his game since then.
His last defence of his world title was a right snoozefest against Urango.
He seemed happy to fight at distance, rather than look to get in close and throw bombs all the time.

Yeah, I saw some of that fight. Well, I switched over after the 3rd round.

It seems as though his camp have told him to add more strings to his bow. Which makes sense, but I fear that someone with superior tools might show him up.

Still, I like him though.

Indeed mate.
Berto's a World Champion with 3 successful defences of his title, so there's no doubting his credentials.
Although the Urango fight wasn't a great one to watch, it did show that Berto has matured into a more thoughtful (and more complete) fighter.

Berto had a very impressive knockout win over Carlos Quintana last night.

Where he goes from here should be interesting because this win has put him right back in the mix.

Yeah, watched it yesterday. He was a touch ring-rusty but that's to be understood what with all he's had going on outside the ring.

I still wouldn't put him amongst the higher echelons yet. A fight against Mosley would've been a great yardstick.

I hear Margarito has been given a licence to fight in Mexico...
