Yes, he quit vs Holyfield in the 2nd fight. He saw the writing on the wall and took his way out. Media worked overtime to make that moment seem like Mike Tyson was so ferocious he couldn't contain himself and bit off Holyfield's ear.
Nope, that's not what happened. He was losing and wanted it to stop so he found a way to get DQ'd.
In general, Tyson was a freak of nature and very rarely had his mental tested because he was so much better than everyone else.
But every time he did face real adversity, he came unstuck. Teddy Atlas has spoken about this many times. Tyson was a scared kid in the body of a monster.
Thats a very creative take on it Jedi !
Considering Tyson lost to Lewis and Douglas - both fair and square losses, he didnt resort to anything naughty in those fights. He clearly stated the reason he bit Holyfield was because Holyfield was fighting dirty, head butting him and all sorts. One such headbutt resulted in a cut and the ref was not doing his job properly, just like the first fight when Tyson got cut due to being headbutted by Holyfield.
Quit the fight my arse.
Teddy Atlas is a punk and a well know Tyson hater, know your history. Tyson fought Douglas under the shadow of not training, partying his ass off and taking lots of drugs, thats all well known.
Tyson fought Lewis while being gassed up by the Nation of Islam who were in his ear making him make stupid decisions left right and centre plus he was going through drama with Don King.
There is no way a focused Tyson loses to anyone in that era.
