The general boxing thread

floyd was great at timing his opponents

he fought a raw, young canelo and outclassed him, knowing the kid would turn into a beast, thus making him look better with time

he faced manny 5 years too late but ultimately got the win

anyways BJS has the best chance of beating canelo out of the current lot but it'll be a tough ask. i might wake up for it.

Both are out for it, Canelo might actually get a little rattled here, he's used to being treated like the Golden boy, one thing gypsies are good at is bringing their opponents back down to earth.

Canelo isn't liking this front he's getting put on him.

what time is the fight UK time?

It could never have happened.

Prime Floyd is 135, prime Canelo is 175.

This version of Canelo wouldn't even be able to make the catchweight of 152 they originally fought at.

Maybe they could meet at Super Welter?

But it is what it is, Floyd probably still takes it at a light enough weight.

Not to me, I actually thought this could go 12 rounds simply because of how evasive BJS can be, guy runs and pecks the whole fight.

The one who impressed me was Canelo, actually closing BJS down, landing solid shots on him, its not easy to do that against a slippery, back pedalling South paw.

I never used to like Canelo or watch him that much when he was lighter, but as he got heavier and came into his own, there's a lot I can learn from him as even though I'm heavier I have a similarish boxing style of "Boxer puncher" with a shorter reach, so like Canelo I have to box within my own space and his defence to offence set up is just top tier, highest levels of boxing.

Have to say though, these lot are fighting at Super MW, that's Roy Jones and Calzages weight class, how do you think Canelo would have done with a prime RJ or Calzage?

Can't see him beating prime RJ at Super MW tbh.

Yep completely agree, that was d*ck thing to say and karma.

When you have a broken orbital you know how it feels, if it feels flakey when getting hit and not solid then what's the option? to risk going fkin blind? forgot Saunders said that about Dubois, glad it happened to him now.

Roy Jones is probably the worst match up for Canelo in history.

Freak athlete with unpralled speed and he's extremely unorthodox to boot.

I don't think Canelo would get near him, for as good as Canelo his footwork is kind of plodding. He's great at cutting the ring but Roy would be too fast to corner and Canelo has to have his feet set to unload his power shots.

To top it off Roy was taller and had a longer reach, he would win a wide decision imo.

Calzaghe would be closer but I still might tip him to win based on activity, he was super slick and also a southpaw which clearly gives Canelo more trouble.
