The general.

His departure was the catalyst of our decline.

The most complete midfielder I've ever seen in the Premier League, and a genuine generational talent. I think of all the players who've left over the years he's the one who's been truly impossible to replace because their simply aren't midfielders of his ilk around anymore.

6'4, great in the tackle, can play box to box, a great passer and finisher? Almost like a cheat code.

That's why Vieira and Yaya ( :hiding: ) are the two best CMs in PL history imo

Don't think that collapse in '08 would happen if he was here, and think that CL final would've gone differently.

Glad someone hasn't forgotten how awesome Yaya was. Kinda ironic how City fans themselves like to pretend that he wasn't all that.

Was the most instrumental player in City's first two title winning sides.

Best CMs of the Prem era have to be Vieira and Keane though. Yaya is up there. So is Cesc, who was better than Gerrard and Lampard combined as a playmaker. :hiding:

Yeah, Yaya is probably the closest we've seen since Patrick left. He didn't offer the same defensive qualities though.

De Bruyne is probably the most complete midfielder since Vieira even if he doesn't have the physicality.

Somewhat makes up for the comedy moment last year when Steven Gerrard was inducted ahead of Patrick.

Come on, come on, if we get 4th and move on from that I will be happy with Arteta for now. Maybe Patrick will be our manager in the future, who knows?
