All you need to do is invite Dein and Wenger to set-up a structure at Arsenal: a DoF, a Head Coach, a Recruitment Director, and a Chief Scout.

They could remain consultants here without a full-time responsibility.

It would be more strategic than Edu and Mikel as heads of Arsenal.

Each time this thread gets bumped, I worry that he's died.

Let the man enjoy his retirement.

Came across the supposition that Dein had a major role to play in the introduction of VAR in England.

Anyone aware of this?

Just finished David's book, Calling the Shots

There's plenty I disagree with him about, and some of his decisions have in my opinion been bad for football, but you can't help liking the guy. He comes across as very genuine and an oldkool gentleman.

His personal story is interesting as well. He discloses in the book that he was defrauded by a scammer out of the equivalent of about £100M in today's money, in the early eighties and nearly lost everything.

He still has his relatively modest club level seats, and attends most matches.
