Seaman, Bould, Dixon, Winterburn, Keown, Adams, Parlour, Wright and Bergkamp.
That's a solid core to build around.

The players were out of control, the manager was profiting off the team, and the entire infrastructure was in a deep malaise. Compare Adams, Keown and Bould against their European counterparts like Paolo Maldini and they just don’t stack up. History has been very kind to these guys.
Now back to Wenger. He not only made these washed up drunks win, he then went on and built an entire invincibles squad 6 seasons later that had none of George Graham’s players in it. So much for inheriting good players.
As far as Emery goes. Of the players that started in the EL final I’d say Monreal and Cech are past it and AMN questionable. The other eight are absolute quality players who are more than good enough for top four or an EL win.
So to answer, I think Emery inherited the better squad.
Youre a disgusting mess of a human being.
You think its ok to insult club legends and dismiss Graham's squad? Whats pissing me off most about you is that people who don't know better might believe your bullshit

Confirmed idiocy, so going forward you would build around these three? ... just how is that going to work?
Auba >30 .... Ozil poison .... Ramsey gone ....
not forgetting Torreira and Leno weren't even in the squad The Don inherited ....
You don't half post some utter nonsense ...

I don't agree with Swipe right at all but, I have to say he has put forward a fair argument and does not seem to be wumming. You can't compare the legendary back four to say AC Milan's back 4. I remember being at Highbury for Arsenal vs Milan and it was a lesson in defending from the Italians!!! Baresi, Costacurta and Maldini, I don't remember who the right back was, I have never seen defending as good in my life.
That said, you CAN compare our legendary back 4 to any top defence from an English club, they were one of the best ad history proves. So I guess it depends on your point of view, his argument is valid though, like I said.

The only reason we talk fondly about them today is because wenger squeezed two league trophies out of them and sent them into retirement with glory.
Secondly, you forget that when Wenger came the club was filled with good old English lads and wenger was the outlier as far as foreign managers go. I think Houllier was the other. Emery has come in an era when foreign managers and foreign squads are the norm. This guy can’t handle Ozils shenanigans, can you imagine him dealing with the likes of Adams and Merson and their drinking and bullying? He’d have gone running back to sunny Spain in a month.
And HH, thanks for respecting another person right to have a different opinion. Shame we don’t see more of that on this forum.
