Arsène Wenger is preparing to return to football and is set to take up one of four job offers within a month.

Wenger, 69, has told friends that he is missing the day-to-day involvement of working with players and is itching to return to a job in the game. The Frenchman parted company with Arsenal at the end of last season after 22 years as manager and has not worked since apart from occasionally as a TV pundit.

Wenger is still based in London but will not work for another club in the Premier League, believing that it would be disrespectful to Arsenal after all his years there. He is now considering four concrete job offers, one understood to be as director of football at Paris Saint-Germain, another as the head coach of a national team, and two from leading clubs in Europe.

Wenger has close links to Qatar, which effectively owns PSG, through his broadcasting work with beIN Sports. One issue which would potentially need to be resolved is whether Antero Henrique would remain as sporting director at PSG.

Wenger has told friends that he is missing the day-to-day involvement of working with players and is itching to return to a job in the game.

Taking a job as PSG's director of football would mean little or no direct involvement with coaching players, and being a national team manager would also limit his day-to-day activity. However, he is being urged by those close to him to consider carefully whether he would really relish the hurly-burly of being a club manager again, not to mention the low job security.

He should find himself a nice well run club in Germany where he can do his scouting, coaching young academy prospects and imposing his style of football. That is what he enjoys after all.

Then they'll have a new supporter too. When are you going to buy your first kit with Wengers name on it?

He rejected Bayern last summer.
Might do it now, he's had time to rest .
That would certainly shut some plonkers up .

Then we can finally get rid of Wenger fans on this forum, and maybe bring in some Arsenal fans instead.

Wenger fans are the most hardcore Arsenal fans in the world. Such thing would never happen.

If Wenger won the cup with Messi, I think Cripps' head would explode. Ha!
