He'd of been quite lethal in the 3-4-3 system we now play, one of the two spots behind the striker is a great position for him especially with a WB covering him defensively.

He was never a try wide player but a CF / WF.

nah wasnt creative enough to be behind the striker in this 343, its why theo struggles so much with it too

This is true if we have Lacazette up front but when you have just Giroud you need all the extra firepower you can get.

Podolski's position is CF sitting behind the striker as a 2nd striker, unfortunately for him not many if any clubs play that position these days.

It was popular position in the 90's, Bergkamp, Del Pierro.

Makes me wonder where we would of fitted Bergkamp in our current system ........ or would people be accusing him of being lazy and rubbish as well?

dennis wouldve been one of the 2 behind the striker in this 3421 but i dont think hed have been effective in it. 4231 is the closest you'd get to dennis playing in his traditional role in the modern era

That's 2 goals in like 7 games......

Not exactly great, but could have been tried there, considering that we even played Sanogo there.

I can't argue with that
Neither good enough as central striker
But podolski was useful cutting in

Forget stats, I watched Poldi in those games he played up top, utterly isolated and ineffective at a vital point of the season (New Year/Christmas I believe). Anyone who watched remembers how empty we were with him in that position.
