"It's a miracle. One moment the pitch is crowded and narrow. Suddenly it is huge and wide."

"Intelligence and class. Class is of course, most of the time linked to what you can do with the ball, but the intelligence makes you use the technique in an efficient way. It's like somebody who has a big vocabulary but he doesn't say intelligent words, and somebody who has a big vocabulary but he can talk intelligently, and that's what Dennis is all about. What he does, there's always a head and always a brain. And his technique allows him to do what he sees, and what he decides to do."

"One night last year some legends of Dutch football gathered for dinner in an Amsterdam house. Around midnight conversation turned to an old question: who was the best Dutch footballer ever? Dutchmen have been voted European Footballer of the Year seven times, more than any other nationality except Germans. Yet Jan Mulder, a great centre-forward turned writer, chose a player who had never even threatened to win the award nor, at the time, a Champions League: 'Bergkamp. He had the finest technique', said Mulder. Guus Hiddink, the great Dutch manager, nodded, and so the matter was settled."

Dennis Bergkamp Tribute Thread

I find it offensive that people claim RVP is anywhere near as good as Dennis.

I prefer RVP TBH. Bergkamp is one of my all-times though. Really i tend to say i like the past player more. Must be looking back, memories make me do it. But not with this one. RVP is my best ever.
I want Carl Jenkinson back in a Arsenal shirt next season.

So if you were given the choice of signing RVP or Dennis you would sign RVP?

He could be near, I would like to see him play in the Bergkamp role in our 4-4-1-1 to see how he preforms.

Dennis Bergkamp Tribute Thread

Postby Arsenal Tone » Thu Jun 21, 2012 5:53 am

Robin's nearly 30 and has only had one full season at anywhere near Bergy's level. Bergkamp was that good from his early 20s.

I am serious. RVP is my all-time favourite player. And i cannot give the player as big a compliment as that. Because normally you look back with fond memories and at players from when you were in your childhood. I normally do that. But not with this one. Also Cesc had a big impact on me. It is all about opinion. You guys know how good RVP is anyway.

As much as I love him and I do...

If RvP has already made his stature as 'all-time favourite player' in your mind then wow...

"Have you everrrrr.... Seen the Arsenal play?! Have you everrrrrr.... Seen the Arsenal play?!" Etc etc.

lol...

Seriously. The few fellow fans i am in contact with all list the same players as me for their all times= RVP, Wrighty, Bergy, Cesc, Overmars, Adams and Keown with EVERYBODY saying Seaman as our best keeper. I cannot believe i am getting stick.
TRA we get on. Simple question, What number do you have RVP in your list ?. Exact number please. Everyone else answer that too.

Chill I was just pulling your leg... lol

But this is the thing, you said they list all these players, you've got him at the top lol. - I don't have a set list. I love Arsenal Football Club & will love any player in the R&W...

IF I had to make a list, van Persie without a doubt is in my top 10. Possibly top 8 or maybe even top 5; but there are many players I rate above him...

- God/King Titi.

- Wrighty.

- Adams.

They top my list.

I respect your opinion. It is hard to make your mind up from all the world class players that we have had/got.
