Hi fellas,

Not sure how many of you have heard of Vasilis Hatzipanagis, but thought some of you might find this story interesting. Hatzipanagis is regarded as Greece's greatest ever player and in 1977 after an injury, he was sent to England for treatment. Whilst in England he began training with the Arsenal squad and impressed so much that Terry Neill tried to sign him.

Unfortunately, he was tied to a horrible contract which meant he could never leave his club and he remained there until his retirement. He often talks of his sadness at not being able to join Arsenal and how Jennings, Rix, Macdonald and Hudson gave him the nickname 'Aristotle'.

Anyway, if any of you are interested, article is here:

I'm not sure if this is strictly 'Arsenal History' but figured it was the most appropriate place for it. Apologies if not, new to the forum. Cheers.

Thanks for that, very interesting story about a player I'd never heard of (the Maradona of the Cyclades). Great shame he never played for Greece given the number of naturalised Brazilians playing for European countries these days.
And here's to you Mathieu Flamini
Arsene loves you more than you will ever know (wo, wo, wo, wo)
