Whilst he certainly can spot and pick a pass, I don't think he'll ever get close to Özil's vision and passing range (few players do).

Having said that, I do believe ESR will end his career having scored more goals per ninety minutes played. Also feel he's more suited to the intensity with which the game is played today.

Sometimes I wonder if people really realize how elite Ozil was. Before KdB, he held the record for fastest-to-fifty PL assists whilst playing for an Arsenal side largely reliant on Alexis, Cazorla, and of course, Ozil.

Last time I checked, he was only behind Messi as far as assists tally went. He might still be in the top-3/4 right now.

As you (and Fran) indicated, ESR isn't anything like Ozil. If there were archetypes, he'd fall in the Kaká category. 'Course nowhere near as good as Kaká (for now at least).
